Surname 1 Name: Instructor: Course: Date: Buddhist and Jehovah Witness Wedding Rituals The Buddhist marriage is a very simple marriage that does not entail any complex rituals or practices that need to be followed. These weddings are based on faith, which is considered the most important factor than religion (Gwynne, 121). A normal wedding can take place in two different contexts, which include the non-Buddhist constituent and the Buddhist component. In the Buddhist sector, the wedding components include prayers that accompanied by gifts given to the Buddha image and the monks. However, in the non-Buddhist segment, the elements involved are traditional practices that are accompanied by the families of the couple. In Jehovah Witness (JW) side, the wedding ceremony involves talks led by elders and then later on vows are recited. The weddings are normally simple, although not as simple as the Buddhist are, in Jehovah Witness weddings, there exists varying customs from all over the world, and all kinds of decorations are allowed, however, the kingdom melody also known as Jehovah Witness hymn must be used and one is not allowed to write his or her vows. The wedding services are held in buildings known as kingdom hills where normal religious services take place. These buildings could be hired buildings, rented auditoriums, gymnasiums, or just a simple building that is constructed to for the main purpose of serving as a kingdom hall.
