Surname 1 Name: Instructor: Course: Date: Case Study: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) OCD is a chronic and long-lasting anxiety disorder whereby people affected experience persistent anxiety resulting from strong, consistent thoughts and behaviors. In most cases, rituals are performed to end this disease. OCD was first discovered in the 19th century and has since then existed in the history of human beings. Compulsions characterize it, and sometimes one experiences obsessions or both could occur. People who are suffering from this disorder experience difficulties that could affect all aspects of life such as individual relationships, work, and school. As we study about this disease, we take into consideration the narration of Racheal, a college student from North Carolina who shared a story with us about her twenty-one years of suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder. She has currently specialized in helping prevent and curing the disease in Northern Carolina. We rely on her information as part of our research as to how she overcame the disorder. According to Racheal, the symptoms began when she was young where she was fearful of stepping on steers and pavement cracks. She could not control her thoughts, which caused anxiety anytime she stepped on cracked sidewalks.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
