THE EXODUS STORY AND THE HEBREWS 2 The Exodus story is the bedrock of the faith of Israelites, and a foundation if Christianity and Judaism. The story gives a description of how the descendants of Jacob were oppressed by the Egyptians, subjected to torture, slavery and forced labor. When these oppressions failed to restrain the growth of the Hebrews, the Egyptians started killing the male Hebrew infants; this was during the birth of Moses. However, Moses survived this wrath and when he became an adult; he attempted to rescue some of his fellow Hebrews by killing their master and later on fled Egypt, taking refuge at Mount Sinai. Later on, God instructed Moses to return to Egypt and deliver his fellow Hebrews from the Egyptian rule, Moses mediated the deliverance of Israelites and with the aid of natural calamities send by God, the Hebrews managed to escape into the wilderness of Sinai.
