Surname 1 Name: Instructor: Course: Date: Gun Control Policy and the Meaning of Life Gun control policy or firearms regulations are government rules and laws that regulate the manufacture, rummage sale, handover, allocation, ownership, alteration or the use of guns for violence, robbery, and other ill motives. The government, therefore, requires those owning guns to surrender their arms by educating them and letting them realize that gun ownership can bring no good to the society. Some of these government regulations attempt to reduce the adverse effects associated with gun ownership by the public and to control crimes. There have been reports of high rates of gun injury and death often cited as the principal motivation for the weapon control policies. The society should focus more on providing knowledge to the public on the perception of morality and the significance of life, create awareness on the adverse effects of allowing them to own guns and most of all make sure that the authorities such as the gun industry lead the public in curbing gun violence related issues. The society can, therefore, engage in gun control policy practices as a way of giving meaning to life and defining the significance of existence or living among the individuals. The society can give meaning to life by deriving individuals’ religious and philosophical contemplation and scientific explorations concerning the social ties, happiness, existence, and self-consciousness. These factors guarantee the well-being of individuals, answers to reasons why life is meaningful and a concept of morality. Such wellbeing in our case of gun control can

Surname 2 be achieved if the society starting from the top-level authorities to the members of the community claim responsibility for the policy. The President of the United States President Obama requires that the guns be strictly controlled, and this can be done by making sure that only the authorized personnel as the military and other responsible persons are the only individuals allowed to own the firearms. He claims that many citizens in the US, almost over thirty thousand, have lost their lives due to gunshots from the non-authorized persons during the violence. The president, hence, requires the gaps in the country’s gun control laws to be adjusted and fixed through legislation so as to make sure that the gun safety reforms that are advocated for by many American communities are achieved.
