Surname 1 Name: Instructor: Course: Date: Gun Control Policy and the Meaning of Life Gun control policy or firearms regulations are government rules and laws that regulate the manufacture, rummage sale, handover, allocation, ownership, alteration or the use of guns for violence, robbery, and other ill motives. The government, therefore, requires those owning guns to surrender their arms by educating them and letting them realize that gun ownership can bring no good to the society. Some of these government regulations attempt to reduce the adverse effects associated with gun ownership by the public and to control crimes. The reports of high rates of gun injury and death are among the principal motivation for implementing firearms control policies. The government should provide knowledge to the public on the perception of morality, and the adverse effects of allowing them to own guns, make sure that the authorities such as the gun industry lead the public in curbing gun violence related issues and lastly ensure that the government leads by example in enforcing the regulation. The government has taken the initiative of providing education to the public on how the guns have caused massive effects over the years by giving reports on the deaths and criminal activities that are linked to the illegal gun owners. Nevertheless, the community is also taught on the significance of working closely with the government to make sure that they report any individuals possessing guns illegally or the suspects who are connected to gun violence activities. Therefore, providing safety from gun violence does not only mean that setting up rules will make the weapon owners surrender their arms or stop using them illegally. Education is needed to explain to them why the government needs to take such an action of controlling gun ownership for their good. Despite all these measures proposed by the government and other members of the public who are advocating for safety, there are opponents of the gun control policy regulation. These opponents advocate for gun ownership rights and argue that regulating firearms do not reduce crimes but rather violates individual freedoms.
