NURSING 2 Ethical decision making in the healthcare environment is a complex occurrence, therefore the ethical constructs that aid in good decision making should encompass the moral, ethics and legal standards that the nurses are expected to operate. These moral values provide a framework used for assessing the behavior, goals, strategies and the actions of the nurses in their setting. The paper gives an overview of the constructs of ethics, the ethical values, morals and legal standards that guide the professional codes of conduct for the nurses. The paper creates a decent overview of the health care system and provides a professional examination of the caregivers and their administrators. Eventually, the decisions made by the nurses and the management should aim at benefiting the patients and meeting their expectations including those of the families and friends (cited in Guido, 2014). An ethical situation leads to the person concerned making decisions or a choice among a set of values, the judgments in the case of a nurse, affects the patients that they attend to on their day-to-day activities. Therefore, when nurses are required to act ethically, it means that they need to make morally relevant and correct decisions, actions and conducts that the interests of the patients and their families regard it as fair, just or right based on their interests. Consequently, the nurses require ethical knowledge for them to perform the appropriate functions in dealing with situations that entail providing safe, ethical, and legal care to their clients and patients. Hence, concerning their practical requirements, the nurses need to know what steps to undertake when dealing with the patients and what essentials need to be done to the patients based on the ethical principles.
