Comm 212 Review Part 4: Culture, Power, and Hegemony 1) In week 10 of discussion section, you played a card game called “BARNGA.” You learned the rules of the game with your home group and then began to play a tournament, which required you to move around the room and play with different groups. a. How did this activity model, in some ways, the kinds of communicative difficulties that can occur in ‘intercultural encounters’? (2-3 sentences) b. What did you learn during this activity that you could consider in the future while involved in an intercultural encounter? (1 sentence) A. This activity showed the kinds of communicative difficulties that can occur in intercultural encounters by the fact that one of the rules of the game was that we could not talk to eachother which in the case of some different cultures happens because they can not understand eachother. Also the loser of the game was forced to leave the table and join a new group, this shows how people in different cultures can feel left out and forced out of a situation because they feel uncomfortable. B. What I learned in this activity was that even though you were not able to communicate verbally there were still ways you can signal to get your point across, like hand motions, etc. This can be used when
