PREVIOUS BACK STORY CONTINUED•Booth had previously tried to kidnap Lincoln•Booth recruited 6 conspirators.•Samuel Arnold, George Atzerodt, Michael O’Laughlen•David Herold, Lewis Powell, and John Surratt•There were going to kidnap him at a play•“Still Waters Run Deep” but he didn’t attend
BEFORE THE ASSASSINATION •Lincoln already knew he was dead.•Had dreams of death for 3 days.•Saw his own funeral in dream•Knew he would die at play.•Left the house against bodyguard’s will•Said “goodbye” instead of “goodnight”
DURING THE NIGHT OF THE ASSASSINATION •The assassination took place April 15, 1965•James Wilkes Booth killed Lincoln•It was very easy to accomplish•It was also very easy to flee•The body guard was not there. On break•Lincoln died shortly afterwards.
