I Want A Wife 2 I have never put much consideration into it, but after reading “I Want A Wife”, by Judy Brady, I, too, find myself saying, “I want a wife!”. Brady went in-depth about the duties, and unrecognized responsibilities of being a wife. She uses a lot of descriptive details and list multiple situations where the role of “the wife”, or in many cases, also mother, comes into play. Even though I am a wife, and mother, I didn’t realize how much of a contribution that role plays in the lives of my children and husband. We are the main caretakers, nurturers, doctors, counselors, etc. The words following made an outcry to me:” I want a wife who is sensitive to my sexual needs, a wife who makes love passionately and eagerly when I feel like it, a wife who makes sure I am satisfied. And, of course, I want a wife who will not demand sexual attention when I am not in the mood for it”. (Brady, 993, para.7) Although, the author is speaking in a woman’s
