My aunt had always inspired and I am proud she is my mentor. Ever since I was
younger, I looked up to her and she took time to advise and talk to me about life choices. My
desire to get into the nursing career came from my aunt. To me, she was perfect, and my role
model. She was a real inspiration to me and was one of the main reasons I pursued a nursing
profession. Her ability to care for people with passion, commitment and empathy made me
desire to bring these skills to nursing. She always sought ways to improve herself and her
practice through continuous education and inquisitiveness.
In addition, I was inspired by her eccentric ways, and I strive to bring the same passion
for innovative ways to bolster the nursing profession. Even in her old age, my aunt cared for
young children and set-up a free clinic to provide quality care to the destitute. Her motto in
life was to make a difference in people’s lives by helping as many people as God could enable
