Discussion Post WK2 – Social and Political Structures in Europe, Russia and Other AmericasThe country that I chose for this week’s discussion post is Germany. Germany was unified in 1871 with the assistance of the country’s Prime Minister Otto von Bismarck upon theircompletion and successes in the Franco-Prussian War (Goff, 2012). The country asserted itself as the ultimate power nation in all of Europe (Goff, 2012). France, Russia and Great Britain among other countries portrayed antagonistic feelings and fear towards Germany upon the country’s unification. Once the unification was completed and formalized the so-called ‘SecondReich’ birth was proclaimed.The political structure of Germany prior to the start of World War I was comprised of a constitution that consisted of a mix of authoritarian monarchical power and liberal individual rights.
