Short Bio : Hello, my name is Elena, and I am the course instructor for PSY3105D, as well as
a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa.
I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Ottawa in Experimental Psychology in January
2021. My research primarily focused on children's and adolescents' well-being.

Official Course Description
The adolescent's physical, emotional, social, moral, and intellectual development. Problems
in the development of personal, social, and sexual maturity. Current research in the
psychology of adolescence.
Additional Course Description
This course is designed for anyone interested in the field of youth development. This course
will focus on developmental processes involved in the maturation of the individual into
adolescence. It will explore some of the issues concerning adolescents with a particular
focus on the role of nature (i.e., the genetic underpinning of behaviour, individual
characteristics) and nurture (i.e., socio-contextual influences) in determining
developmental change. This course will introduce students to the main areas of adolescent
physical and psychosocial development, focusing on the Canadian context.
