My Philosophy Dorothy Walker Education should provide for the needs of all students. Students who possess superior intelligence should have specific programs to address their needs. Students who have challenging difficulties should also have a program to meet their needs. Differentiation in the various needs can be accomplished by providing a diverse curriculum. School should design a curriculum that achieves the best match between the learner’s ability and the level of challenge. The best design is one that integrates a combination of approaches. These approaches are essential in addressing the unique abilities and learning styles of students identified for the gifted and talented education program. There has been much attention by school districts and governments for students with disabilities of all types. Not much attention has been given to the gifted and talented. Opportunities should be provided for gifted students to demonstrate leadership, creative thinking, and general intellectual ability and specific academic ability. Lessons
