Samuel Singleton Philosophy 101 Dr. Jerry Miller 19 September 2007 I began writing my paper last week. When I was looking over my paper last night I realized that none of the ideas in my paper was mine. I was just regurgitating the ideas that previously were said in class. I became confused with what I was writing because none of the ideas are from me. I was just writing what I think the right thing would be or what would sound nice. This would all be in order that I could do well in the class and that is exactly the opposite of what the paper or the course is focused on. Previous professors would be delighted and usually reward students that share the same ideas that they do. I found myself falling into the same trap when I was reviewing over my paper last night. I was using big words and things that I thought would be impressive. I think if I do not learn to express my own ideas and think for myself that I am not getting everything out of the course and I am just doing the same thing I have being doing all through college and my life just trying to get by in order to accomplish a sort of standard that society placed on me in order to be accepted or seen as if I lived a good life.
