Gibbs 1 Mikal Gibbs Professor Hicks ENG 100 6 December 2016 Hip Hop Throughout the years, music has changed from its genre, style, motion and beat. Music has been around for many years and continues to expand nationwide. Hip hop is a genre of music that has always been influential to black people. Let us take a trip back in time, to when it had true soul, meaning behind words, and when the audience felt what the musician felt. It started in South Bronx of New York City in the 1970s, in the apartment of Clive "Kool Herc" Campbell a creative Dj in his time. Hip Hop since then has changed exponentially, but is it better than what it used to be? The answer is no, it is not. Hip hop’s influence back then was extensive to only black people. However, hip hop today has broadcasted its influence to not just blacks but to anybody that likes the content of the music they are listening to. Artist like Notorious B.I.G, Nas, and Wu tang clan paved the way for generations today. Hip Hop became the beginning of an era that nobody thought would become a worldwide astonishment.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
