Or ranks pages based on how closely related it is to the search you entered? This page rank by Google is known as the G oogle page rank algorithm , which in fact uses eigenvectors and eigenvalues to rank pages based solely on the search by the user. As a computer science/math person, this seems fascinating to where Linear Algebra implements googles algorithm for their search engine. With the many uses of eigenvectors and eigenvalues, I will explain how, and why they are useful and how they make the search engine algorithm work.
