2 Buddhism In this paper I will summarize the history of Buddhism and the life of Buddha, the basic teachings, what makes the school of Buddhism and why it is unique. The school I have chosen to talk about is Theravada. Summarize the history of Buddhism and the life of Buddha When it comes to Buddhism and the life of Buddha little is known about Buddha’s early life. It has also been said that there’s no biography during Buddha’s lifetime. There is also information that is most likely mythical. It is belief that Buddha was born as a prince. Buddha was in the Sakyas clan. Buddha’s father was named Suddhodana and he was known as the king. Buddha’s mother was named Maya. There is no actual date of birth for Buddha. It is thought to believe that Buddha could have been born 567 to 487 BCE, but no one really knows. There are many stories about Buddha such as he was born by his mother’s side without causing any pain, causing the earth to shake. As an infant he was showered with water. He took seven steps and made an announcement that he is chief of the world and he was living his last reincarnation. He was given the name Siddhartha meant “a person who has achieved their goals” Gautama was his clans name.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
