2 Understanding Islam In today’s world, there are very few that truly understand the different cultures and religions. I will be discussing the key factors of the Islamic religion to include, who Muhammad is, the Qur’an, the Five Pillars, Muslim Practices, Central beliefs, holy days, similarities between the Western Religions and Allah. Who was Muhammad? Many of us would think Muhammad Ali, one of the greatest boxers to ever live but the Muhammad I will be talking about is the Islamic Prophet that was sent by God to guide humanity the right way. According to Who Is The Prophet Muhammad (1996), “He was raised illiterate, unable to read or write, and remained so till his death”. Basically, he wasn’t very smart or educated. How can such a man be chosen to be a Prophet of God, if he doesn’t have the ability to read or write anything? The Qur’an is the central religious text of Islam in which the Muslim people believed it to be the revelation from God himself . According to Who Is The Prophet Muhammad (1996), “….Muhammad received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel”. The way Muhammad received the Qur’an was verbally through the Angel Gabriel in which it continued on for twenty-three years. Muslim

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
