Under rule 1.6 of the ABA Model Rules, paralegals are to remain silent on when information about a case they are working on becomes public. Paralegals are bound by the same client- attorney privilege and confidentiality that lawyers are. Regardless of how the paralegal obtained the information, they carry the duty to remain silent for fear of violating the ethics rules. Rule 1.6 states that “Fundamental principle in the client-lawyer relationship is that, in the absence of informed consent, the lawyer must not reveal information relating to the representation (Am. Bar Ass’n 1983). 2. According to 1.6 of the ABQ Model Rules, no, information that has been made public can not correct it if is wrong information. Under this same rule, all information that the legal team has is protected by confidentiality. Under rule 1.6 [6][7] there are exceptions to disclosing confidential
