Martin Luther King Jr. is an inspiring leader who we can learn a lot from. He inspired others, both blackand white, to stand up against racial discrimination from 1955 to 1968. He was passionate, patient, andfocused. His dream of equality for African Americans may have seemed out of reach to some, but notMartin Luther King, Jr. He knew that things would not change overnight but they could change.He was innovative and he thought outside of the box. He knew he had to try something different andapproached racial discrimination differently than most. He drew his inspiration from the peacefulteaching of Mahatma Gandhi and his Christian faith and he truly believed his own words; “Darknesscannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Hewas persistent and his beliefs were unwavering. No matter how many times he got knocked down, hewould stand right back up and continue push forward to make his dream a reality.
