Anastasios Pappas 09/11/07 Hybrid cars are a great new innovation in response to many new demands of consumers today. A hybrid car is a vehicle with not one, but two engines; one engine gas and one engine electric. They both work together or sometimes individually in order to give you a more fuel efficient engine. While there are many great benefits of driving a hybrid car, one has to question whether or not the good outweighs the bad. The Hybrid car is a great way to give back to society as well as your wallet. Cars like the Prius and the Civic Hybrid Both offer great fuel economy and super low emissions. The Prius gets a combined average of 55 mpg and a range of over 500 miles. With gas prices reaching over $3.00 a gallon this may be the car for you if commuting is your thing. While the hybrid car is definitely a great gas sipper and supports a healthy environment, does its positives outweigh the negatives? While it does end up saving you money in the long run, the initial investment of the hybrid car is very expensive. The hybrid civic gets around 10 miles more to the gallon

The hybrid car also has trouble with consumers in the field of selection. While every year more and more hybrid cars are being made, they are very few options when considering a hybrid car. There are only around ten different models to choose from and it’s very possible that your favorite car company does not offer a hybrid. There are only two companies on the market that make a SUV hybrid which leaves the consumer very little to work with. While the Hybrid Car is a great investment in the long run, for the average consumer it may not be so ideal. Although it is very fuel efficient and is economically friendly, its high cost and small variety of vehicles doesn’t make it a great choice for everyone....
