THE NEW NORMAL2The View on HealthcareSince the COVID-19 pandemic hit back in March of 2020, the healthcare system has notbeen the same, by any means. People do not have the same views for the healthcare system thatthey had pre-pandemic. COVID-19 has caused much stress and anxiety felt by both patients andhealthcare staff alike. Neither party feel safe, as a result, patients are not seeking the medicalattention they need, and healthcare workers are quitting their jobs. In addition to quitting theirjobs, healthcare workers have also been put on furloughs, and a leave of absence (Dickinson etal., 2020).Another instance of a change in the healthcare system comes in the form of staffshortages. Those employees including technologists in all departments, environmental staff,nurses, and physicians have all felt the impact. As someone who has worked on the frontlines inthe emergency department, and critical care units, it has been a challenge adjusting to theseshortages.
