Page 1 Peace of Paris, 1763 Sugar Act Stamp Act Quartering Act Coercive Acts (Intolerable Acts) Whigs ~ Tories Boston -Massacre -Tea Party The Declaration Revolution Before the french and indian war ended, george 3 became king of england he tried to reassert stronger royal authoity (in opposition of parliament) in parliament there were two major factions whigs- opposed the crown. more puritan interests. {country} tories- supported (generally) the crown. church authority (elizabeth 2 is currently head of church (regent)) {court} we have had 5 major political party systems w post war british policy was to make colonies contribute to costs preception of british mistreatment of colonies during the war. i.e. could they defend thier homes after war, colonies no longer needed that kind of military defense read about proclamation line british prime minister (renvall?) supported these harsh taxes/policies read about these policies in book stamp act of 1765 was an act that required official seals to be on any type of legal transaction. aka requires crown authority. stamp act was huge there were riots against the stamp act, not only im america but also the caribbean declaratory act- british laws were in full force in colonies township acts- over all major products imported in the colonies (paper, lead, tea, etc. . ) regulation stimulated production in the colonies (expensive products = bad, so colonists made their own stuff)
