Abby SiebertEnglish 1199/10/16Creative Writing Short StoryThe Perfect RelationshipNaomi believed that the best things in life were unexpected. She always loved surprises and believed that not having expectations was the best way to live. She certainly never expected to meet Josh. When Naomi met Josh, she was at a point in her life where all she was looking for was adventure. She wanted to experience all that life had to offer and felt that she had not done enough in her 18 years of life. When her and her friends had invited her to visit a graveyard on that freezing November night, she didn’t even hesitate when she agreed to go. Naomi, Meghan, and Leah all stumbled into Meghan’s car with butterflies in their stomachs. Meghan passed Naomi a bottle of Captain Morgan and Naomi took a couple of swigs, the drink burning her throat and giving her goosebumps. When they finally arrived to the graveyard, there was another car there with a couple of guys standing outside of it, passing around a blunt. “Oh, I invited a couple friends from work.” Meghan explained with a grin. We walked over to the guys and we all introduced ourselves. And there was Josh, smilingat me curiously as if he had never seen something so interesting. He was cute, with tan skin and twinkling brown eyes. But his energy is what made Naomi attracted to him. He was always joking and trying to entertain everyone in the group. They all walked into the graveyard as the snow began to fall. Naomi shivered and Josh wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close.
Naomi continued to take swigs of the vodka and she felt a rush of excitement, and butterflies in her stomach. She was nervous being in the graveyard, but Josh made her feel safe. Eventually, they all decided to go back to Josh’s house and watch a movie. Everyone else fell asleep besides Josh and Naomi, and they sat on the couch talking about life. Josh had told her about his dreams of being successful and making his parents, who went through so much struggle for him, proud. Naomi was captivated by every word and wished she could spend all her time just listening to him talk. She felt comfortable enough to be her weird self in front of him, and he seemed to appreciate it. She didn’t know if it was the alcohol, or the way his eyes lit up when he talked about something so passionately, but she had to kiss him. She leaned over and grabbed his face and kissed him without hesitation. When they pulled away, he smiled, and she knew this was justthe beginning of their time together. It had been a few months, and Josh and Naomi had taken things slow. Neither of them had experience with relationships, but they were learning together. Naomi felt that her feelings for Josh were genuine. She told him secrets that she had never told a single soul before because she trusted him. She felt completely comfortable in front of him, and it was a new feeling she had never experienced before.
