However, this happy meal only consists of 4 chicken nuggets, a small fry, and an 8 ounce 1% milk. This accounts for 38% of an average persons fat intake per day. Childhood obesity is a big problem in the United States with 1/3 of children overweight or at risk of becoming over weight; according to mayoclinic.com which I accessed on the 5 th . The increase in childhood obesity is also linked to the decrease in physical activity that children are participating in. Accessed on the 5 th , the Institute of Medicine stated that (quote) , “weight gain results when energy expenditure is consistently exceeded by energy intake over time.
