Answer: Goodman Brown’s traveling companion as mentioned in the story was the devil. 2. What did the New England Puritans think about the nature of man? (You will need to research this question.) According to a John Calvin, “a French Protestant theologian during the Protestant Reformation and was a central developer of the system of Christian theology called Calvinism or Reformed theology”, The new England Puritans believes that man sinful nature started in the Garden of Eden and it is the consequence of the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the garden that originated all the misfortune and sinful nature of man. Another thing he thought he saw in the forest was the wife red ribbon that fell down from the tree. 5. How does the incident in the forest affect Goodman Brown? Answer: The incident in the forest made Goodman Brown to see everyone in the community as devil worshippers, which made him to keep his distance and decide to stay by himself. He was unable to forgive the possibility of evil in his loved ones and as a result spends the rest of his life in worried loneliness and obscurity....
