American Government: Assignment #1
The Constitutional Convention of 1787 was held to revise the Article of Confederation
and address the problems in governing the United States. Many different delegates attended to
discuss the issues of the Articles of Confederation. These delegates consisted of federalists and
anti-federalists. This meeting led to the writing of the Constitution, which provided three
branches of government and divided congress into two houses, both of which would be
represented according to population. It controls the relationship between the states and the
people. The Constitution also protected the right and freedom of the people. It created the first
amendment which addressed issues related to religion.
In my opinion, the Convention was important to create the United States Constitution.
And some of these topics from the convention are still used today. It provides stability to the
country and prevents any corruption using the system of Checks and Balances. It prevents any of
the other branches from gaining dominance. The state isn’t taking advantage of the citizens, the
