The topic of my project is to implement a Childhood Obesity Clinic for Community Care
Physicians. This will cater to and help children who are considered overweight or obese. About 1
in 5 children and adolescents in the United States have obesity, and it can be linked to many
serious health problems like Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, and breathing
problems (Healthy People 2030, n.d.).
Goal 1: To provide the appropriate interventions like nutrition guidance and physical activity for
children who are overweight or obese.
Goal 2: Partner with local health agencies, food pantries, and local schools to ensure that all
children have access to health food options.
Goal 3: Get the providers of the pediatricians offices within the company to refer at least 50% of
their patients who are considered obese in the first year.
The population that will be affected are children and adolescents aged 2-19 years old of all
