The strategy for supporting preschoolers to build relationships that I feel is the mostimportant is to provide a consistent routine and expectations within the class while modelingthe behaviors that I expect to see from them such as respecting each other and using wordsto communicate with other peers. Giving the students the expectations provides them withwhat behaviors they should be displaying toward one another. Modeling is done constantlythrough the ways that I work and play with the students. It is also important to use hands onlearning to model with them. This would involve when students come to a disagreement orone may hit or scream at the other student. We can model the appropriate behavior by goingto them and getting on their level, then giving each child to share what happened. As we learnwhat happen, then we can lead a discussion to get them to notice how one person may haveused their words, what each others faces were telling them, and what words could have beenused instead of hitting or yelling.
