The doctrines and practices of Lutheranism and Calvinism are both similar and different to the doctrines and practices of Catholicism in many ways. One way they are similar is they all believe that Jesus Christ is the messiah. They also all believe that Christ is present in some way in the Eucharist. Lutherans, Calvinists, and Catholics also all practice the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. There are also many differences between the doctrines and practices of Lutheranism and Calvinism and the doctrines and practices of Catholicism. Catholics believe in seven sacraments. However, in contrast, Lutherans and Calvinists only believe in two sacraments. Catholics also disagree with Lutherans and Calvinists about the authority of the pope.
