Jenny Mr. Norris 12/14/2022 HOLES Holes is a book written by Louis Sachar. This book is about a boy's life. Stanley Yelnats was the one who was sent to Camp Green Lake because of an injustice. Or everyone in the house considers this a curse; this curse is because his great-grandfather stole a pig. When entering Camp Green Lake, everyone will build character by digging holes every day. During his time in the camp, Stanley went through many changes. At the camp, because of his experience, he had a change in personality, gained more confidence, and found friendship. He found these things by digging holes. Before he entered the camp, he was overweight, unlucky, weak, slow, and quiet. In other words, he was a failure who never believed in himself. At school, he is always teased by his friends; even his teacher mocks him and makes malicious remarks about him. The only person who plays with him is his mother. He always lives with his mother; he can't do anything without her. “(Sachar,7) Stanley was not a bad kid. He was innocent of the crime for which he was convicted. He’s just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.” He continues to experience bad things. He had just stepped from under a freeway overpass when he was hit in the head by a pair of shoes.
