Unformatted text preview: What We Talk about When We Talk about Love covers many interesting topics about love from numerous points of views. It shows the optimistic, positive aspects of love, like the newlyweds happy about being married to each other. But it also points out the negative, pessimistic, point of views from different people, like Mel and his ex wifes bitter divorce. It even questions the aspects of real and fake love, for example when Terri talks about her crazy ex boyfriend who would threaten them on a regular basis. He even went as far as to buy a twenty-two pistol, which he eventually shot himself with. The argument that is brought up in this essay is whether or not Mel and Terris present relationship and their stories about past relationships give a positive or negative outlook on the newlyweds view of love. The negative aspects that could be shown to demoralize their relationship are the bad experiences both Terri and Mel had in the past. Both Terri and Mels ex spouses have either proven to be mental cases both Terri and Mel had in the past....
