Persuasion Essay How many times have you heard the phrase, “Sorry I cannot eat that, I am on a diet.” Probably a lot more than one time in your life. Dieting is something that has become very prominent in our culture. Everywhere you look in popular culture people are succumbing to the hippest new dieting fad. Since many people want to lose weight quickly and easily dieting seems like the most approachable method. But what many people do not know is that dieting can be very harmful to our bodies. Many people have gained disorders within their own bodies due to over dieting and they have even developed serious diseases. A consistent healthy diet and a routine workout can go a long way when it comes down to it all. There are many different types of dieting and each with their own purpose to serve. Some diets involve you gaining weight and are for those who suffer from disorders such as anorexia and starvation. Others gain weight for the sole purpose of building muscle mass so they can bulk up their bodies. But the dieting that I am referring to is the infamous weight loss diet. These diets work by taking out or restricting a certain type of food from your eating habit. For example some diets do not let you eat carbohydrates because it helps promote ketosis. Ketosis is when the body burns fat instead of glucose. This may seem like a simple and clever method but in reality it causes a lot of side effects.
