FEDERALISTS 1. Emphasized peace with Britain after Jay’s Treaty. 2. Party split during President John Adam’s administration, and it began during President George Washington’s administration. 3. Federalist figures are: John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Rufus King, Charles Pinckney. 4. George Washington’s inclination and policies leaned toward Federalism. 5. Federalists were for National government above state government.
