Children’s senses are engaged by art in open-ended playwhich helps support their cognitive, social-emotional and multisensory skills. Open-ended artexperiences are art projects which have no precise instructions or exact product to reproduce.Therefore, my project will be a painting project which allows students to use a variety ofpainting tools. This project will allow students to express themselves. Several utensils will belaid out for students to choose from. They will be allowed to use a variety of tools to create theirpainting, rather than be limited to just one tool. Some of the options will include various sizes ofpaint brushes, blocks, crayons, rollers, cotton and some toys like cars to move across the paper.Papers of various shapes, sizes and colors will also be made available for students to choosefrom. Once students have chosen their material, they will choose their paint color and beginpainting on their paper. There will be no time limit for the students. They will decide when theirpaintings are done. As they finish their paintings, I will help them put it up to dry which willgive students a chance to see each other’s masterpieces and be able to feel pride in their creationsof self-expression.Children Expressing Themselves
