Identify the character(s) in the cartoon: In the image, we see Uncle Sam as the teacher; we also see depicted as children, the Philippines, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Cuba.In the background off to the left, we see an African American child on a ladder cleaning the window.Off center towards the back of the picture, we see a Native American covered in a blanket appearing to be reading a book, however, it is upsidedown.Behind him we see a Chinese immigrant in the doorway of the school room.Off to the right, we see a mixture of students of mostly whites, an Alaskan native, and Mexican Americans reading a book Identify the symbols and actions the artist employs in the cartoon.
