Unformatted text preview: 31/10/2007 10:31:00 Development almost always starts at fetilization when a sygote is formed. Continues all the way until death. A lot of development happens throughout life starts with single cell zygote. Recieves nourishment from parents directly born, germinates, hatches, etc cycle begins as child matures into an adult. Frogs are one particular organism that people study in detail to study development. much of what happens in development is conserved throughout other species, including humans. sperm meets egg, single cell, rapid amounts of cell division. single cell frog embryo becomes trillions of cell very quickly. blastula allows space to form ithin embryo. gastrulation* one of the most important events of life Parts o the organs you dont need anymore are chewed away or eaten away from the inside (frogs lose their tail) Tadpole becomes adlt frogfrog produces ferm cells. Textbook reinforces the lecture material. Development involves significant change over space and tie. frog embryo divides into multiple cells. Development occurs in womb and after birth until death. Human body contains 100trillion cells. ecoli, put it in a borth, in a few hours it makes 100 trillion cells animal and plants have 100trillion cells, but they are all different. multicellular has some advantages o cells in our bodies can become specialized o muscle cells are good at contractingbut errible at other things. o specialized cells rely on other specialized cells. Mucle cells need oxygen prodcing cels disadvantages o reliance on other cellsone thing goes wrong=disease and chaos Humans goes from single zygote to 100trillion cells. o upon dividing combime into two different ypes of cells. using and employing a different developmental programs. ecpress different programs in the cells o different types of cells: Ectoderm (outside) skin, neurons, etc Mesoderm (spinal chord, muscles, red blood cells) Endoderm (inside) ling intestine, innermost tissues germline Humans have 100trillion cells of over 200 types and the fetizlized egg is the source for all of them The Antrx spore is a specialized vell type produced by development....
