By avoiding the facilities put there for seeing the canyon and taking the beaten path By taking the most commonplace tour imaginable Dialectic movement ; in order to be dialectic take the uncommon route, because for the complex man, the common route is the most beaten one of all A consequence of a breakdown of the symbolic machinery ; describes a family who is visiting the grand canyon on their own without any other tourists around; There is a “complex distribution of sovereign, of zoning” “Is looking like sucking: the more lookers, the less to see?” Huxleyan novel describes and extreme cases in which the canyon is abandoned and everything around it has fallen to ruin, but the Grand Canyon is there exposed; Exposed “by the decay of those facilities which were designed to help the sightseer” The moviemaker knows something the planner doesn’t, and that is by use of stratagems such as the Inside Track, the Familiar Revisited, the Accidental Encounter , he can make the character have a unique and interesting experience; The movie maker uses “the recovery of sovereignty through disaster”- where the canyon is open to the remnant and the remnant are accessible to
