I would like to be the first in my family to set up a good ground in America, so that my family members can come one-by-one and live and work together here. I would like to be able to make money to pay off the debts to the “snakeheads”, and quickly send back enough money to my homeland, so that other family members can migrate to America as well. I would like to eventually set up a private business here in America so that we can make enough money to pay off all indentured service-related debts and make enough money to survive. 2. How did you get here? First I had to raise $1,000 in advance in China, but it was hard because we would only make $400 a year in income there. Then, through a process of the smuggling network, the “snakehead” told me that my relatives must pay a debt of $30,000 within three years after I arrive in America, which is $10,000 a year and roughly $800 a month.
