THOMAS-MOYA: CHRISTIAN ATTITUDES TOWARD WOMEN 2 Erica Thomas-Moya Professor Kate Reid HUMN250-WCO-V41 Humanities January 24, 2016 Week 3 Exercise: Christian Attitudes towards Woman It is said by the Apostle Paul that all who are baptized in Christ: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28; [Per03]). However, early Christian views of the woman were male-controlled traditions of Jewish society. In which the woman must allow the man to lead and is bound by their authority. “Wives be subject to your husband, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as the Lord is the head of the church” (Ephesians 5:22- 23[Per03]). Though this stigma still tends to lead the way of society today, as a Christian woman you learn to see the bright side of this anti-feministic view due to the fact that as a Christian we are taught that God always makes things fair as through marriage you become one entity. “Thou shalt not take thy wife for granted, but will honor and respect her as thy equal” (1 Pet 3:7). “Thy highest allegiance, except God, shall be to thy wife, not thy relatives or friends” (Gen 2:24).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
