Natural Forces Affecting the Driver 1. How does inertia affect a person who is not wearing a seatbelt during a collision? During a collision, if the driver isn’t wearing a seat beat, inertia affects the person because the car will stop, but you’ll keep on moving. 2. How does kinetic energy affect the stopping distance of a vehicle traveling at 30 mph compared to the same vehicle traveling at 60 mph? It’s moving twice as fast, so it has twice the amount of energy. 3. How does kinetic energy affect the stopping distance of a small vehicle compared to a large vehicle? Kinetic energy is dependent on the mass of the vehicle and the velocity at which it is traveling, so the mass of the smaller vehicle is smaller and so is its stopping distance. But if the larger vehicle is traveling at the same velocity, its stopping distance would be greater for its larger mass. 4. Keeping in mind the kinetic energy of a moving vehicle, how can a driver best prepare to enter sharp curves in the roadway?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
