DOING BUSINESS IN INDIA2Doing Business in India After working in healthcare for just about fifteen years in the United States, my company has now made the decision to expand after an abundance of success in the states. The Republic of India is one of the world’s most politically-active democracies and the tenth largest economy. It is the third largest Asian economy after China and Japan. It is the second most populous country in the world with approximately thirty percent of its 1.2 billion inhabitants residing in urban areas. The services sector, especially information technology, continues to be the major source of economic growth. Services account for more than half of India's GDP output and employ less than one third of its labor force, currently estimated to be 471 million workers, making it the second biggest workforce on the planet. There is so much upside about India, and we feel it will only good things will come out of this if we were to enter the business world here (CCG, 2013). India is a very large country with over 30 languages. Creating a local presence in India strongly advised because of how diverse the country is. Also because of the diversity, taking a regional approach is best for a business entering the country (CCG, 2013). By taking the regional approach, we understand that regional geography studies the specific unique characteristics of places related to their culture, economy, topography, climate, politics and environmental factors (About.com, 2014). We will be able to cater to the people of that particular region and make sure that our advertisement for our product is communicated clearly to the people.
