Interdisciplinary Relationships 2 Interdisciplinary Relationships The research on interdisciplinary relationship in the health care industry has infinite possibilities on who collaborates with who, but the main purpose is to bridge the gap of patient care to the different entities involved. The discussion will be on the Finance Department and the interdisciplinary relationship the department has with Patient Accounts Department, Case Management Department, Revenue Management Department, and outside agencies like Emdeon, ways to avoid and resolve conflict with the departments and outside agencies, ways the team works with each departments and ways to improve the process, and also including a personal experience with details on how the process failed. Lastly, will go over how interdisciplinary relationships affect my organization, the patients, and families that interact with the organization. Avoid and Resolve Conflict In avoiding and resolving conflicts, the following steps can be used within the department, when dealing with department to department, and dealing with outside agencies. The first step is to identify the source of the conflict. The more information that can be collected regarding the conflict, the easier it will be to resolve the conflict and avoid one in the future. (AMAnet, 2016) The second step is to look beyond the occurrence. In some cases, the conflict was minor and happened months ago, but the tension, uneasiness from the conflict grew over time, where now the parties involved or departments involved are verbally attacking each other instead of resolving the issue. (AMAnet, 2016) Step 3 is suggest results, communicate with those individuals or departments involved with the conflict, his or hers viewpoint, ideas on how to resolve the conflict. The next step is finding out which solution both parties can agree on, support the solution that meets the conflict need, and collaborate effectively to address the teams or departments issue. (AMAnet, 2016) The last step is agreement. The key for this to be
