Assume the rates of the forward and reverse reactions are equal for each of the fast, reversible steps. iii. Set the rate law expressions for the forward and reverse reactions of each of the fast reversible steps equal to each other. iv. Solve for the concentrations of any intermediates in terms of the rate constants and the concentrations of the reactants. v. Substitute for the concentrations of intermediates in you original rate law expression. b.
