Gospel Essentials Essay 1 Anthony Obinna Christian Worldview 301 James Miller For many millenniums, we as human have always questioned our creation, purpose and many other of life’s big questions. The answer to many of these questions greatly effect and shape our worldviews today. Throughout these years there have been many great minds such as Plato, Thomas Aquinas, and many more that explored the answers to these vital questions. There is a great universal appeal to the answers of many of these questions which signifies their importance. In today’s world, the Christian worldview is very clear and consistent with the truth to these grappling questions. God Throughout time, it has become very difficult for mankind to fully grasp and understand God. God is the creator, who came before us all and created the universe as we know today. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). The first thing to say is that God is much ‘bigger’ than us in every sense. We can never completely describe him or understand him. Although we may not fully understand God we know a lot about him. God has revealed himself to us through the Bible and through his Son, Jesus. The Bible tells us that God is a living personal Spirit. He is not an impersonal force, but a living being who acts ( Psalm 115:3-7 ). “God is personal with his own characteristics. He is Spirit who exists apart from this world and is above and beyond it. Some things about God only apply to him, other aspects of God we share in as beings who were created in his image. God is glorious, majestic perfection and utterly different to us in this way. He is infinite, without beginning or end or any limitation at
Gospel Essentials Essay 2 all. He is self-existent, not dependent on anyone for anything. He is consistent and unchanging, so always remains dependably the same as he relates to us. God is sovereign and he is holy. He rules over everything and is the final cause of all that happens in his universe. God is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. He is not only perfect, but pure and therefore utterly against evil, injustice and wrong doing. Because God is perfectly righteous, he judges and punishes all that is wrong. God is good. He is loving, merciful and compassionate. God is complex and yet all these characteristics exist together perfectly in harmony. Jesus, the Son of God, reveals God to us perfectly. In him we see compassion as he cares for the lost and needy.
