CHINA AND JAPAN PAPER2China and Japan PaperThe 1400’s through the 1800’s were a big time of change and growth for China andJapan. Although they had their set-backs they developed and gained much knowledgefrom the Western culture at this time. Not only were the 1400’s -1800’s a large time ofchange but it was a period of war for China and Japan as well. Western influence broughtknowledge of new crops to China and Japan, new opportunity for foreign trade andreligion as well as other aspects such as calendars, mathematics, and medicine.With Western Culture there was new religions brought to the Asian society.Western culture brought the religion of Christianity to China and Japan and it wasprohibited from these parts of the world. Although Western religion was not takenadopted by the Asian culture, they did find other aspects of the Western world as potentialworthy. In 1639 Japan introduced a closed-country policy that prohibited Japanese fromleaving the country and kept European merchants in separate small territories. Even with
