Thesis Statement – a single statement that summarizes your message. Supporting material – anything that backs up a claim in a presentation. Report – is an account of what you or someone you represent has learned or done. Specific Goal – The outcome that you seek Hidden Agenda – An undisclosed plan, particularly one with an ulterior motive Communication network – A regular pattern of person to person relationships through which info flows in an organization. Jargon – Specialized vocabulary Emotional intelligence – The ability and skills of interacting well with others Communication – The process by which people communicate. Low level abstractions – Highly specific statements that refer to specific things Negotiation – when two or more parties discuss proposals to find a mutually acceptable agreement Response to criticism – Fight, Flight, Agree, Seek more info Types of informative reports – Briefing, Report, Training, Explanation Types of reports -- Status, Final, Feasibility
