Planning a Windows Server Networking Model Peer-to-peer networking -> WORKGROUP Uses Workstations to share resources such as files and printers and to connect to resources on other computers. Each computer is managed separately. Usernames/ passwords need to be duplicated on all computers where access is required. Server-based networking -> DOMAIN Centralizes the network adminstration on one or more servers. Provides a single username/ password for users to gain access to network resources. Peer-to-Peer Networking WORKGROUP Advantages No special equipment needed to enable workstations to communicate and share resources. Can be effective for very small networks (<10). Disadvantages Mgt of network resources is decentralized.
