Government Spending In this paper, we will discuss Government Spending in the United States. We will explore three different areas where cutbacks on federal government spending would help reduce the current deficit and one area that the federal government would benefit some potential earned revenue. Also, learn about who are the Concord Coalition and their purpose. As of March 1 st , 2016 the current total of United States National debt is $19,090,880,799,022 (Concord Coalition, 2016). According to the Concord Coalition website, the Gross Domestic Product as known as the GDP achieved a record high of 106% in 1946 and the alternative Fiscal Scenario, the debt will reach a high again in 2031-2032, between 106-110% (Concord Coalition, 2016). In 2015, the three biggest sources of government spending were in Healthcare, Social Security, and Defense. Suggested Federal Spending Cutbacks There are plenty of Americans who believe that the government should reduce spending cost, but it is not as easy as it may sound. I believe to reduce funding for the National Institutes of Health also known as NIH, because, it will encourage increased efficiencies and more careful focus on priorities that will provide the greatest benefit (Federal Budget Challenge, 2014). I also believe in placing a spending restriction would help with the spending cost. For those who are
