CONFLICTING VIEWPOINTSGun control in America is one of the most controversial and well-fought areas inAmerican politics which is clearly defined by the gun control activists and the gun rightsactivists pitted against each other. The United States is believed to have 88.8 guns per 100 peoplewhich translate to roughly 270 million guns in civilian custody and care (ProCon, 2016). Guncontrol should be emphasized, and strict measures should be put in place to control buying andthe usage of firearms.Harsher penalties should be imposed on those who violate gun laws or usefirearms for illegal purposes. The hard punishments could make people think twice before usingguns illegally.Individuals who purchase a firearm should have a mental screening beforepurchase. That would keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill.
